MARION COUNTY CANCELS ALL

 

 

SNOW ADVISORIES

 

 

On February 7th, at 1:30pm this afternoon the Marion County Sheriff's Office has cancelled the LEVEL 1 snow advisory that was put in effect at 3:30am. Some secondary roadways are still snow and ice covered so caution should be used when driving on them. Crews with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Marion County Garage will continue to monitor roadway conditions.

 

 

 

 

LEVEL ONE SNOW ADVISORY (DOWNGRADE)


 

 

 

 

At 3:30am the Marion County Sheriff's Office has downgraded to a level one snow advisory for Marion County. Primary and secondary roadways are navigable but still snow covered and hazardous due to ice build up. Crews with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Marion County Garage are in the process of clearing the roads however roadways are still hazardous.

Motorists should use extreme caution while driving and limit travel

 

 

 

 

LEVEL TWO SNOW ADVISORY (UPGRADE

 

 

FROM EARLIER LEVEL)

 

 

On February 6th, 2010, at 2:00am the Marion County Sheriff's Office issued a level two snow advisory for Marion County. Primary and secondary roadways are snow covered, drifting and hazardous due to gusting winds and the large amount of snow still falling. Visibility has also been affected due to weather conditions. Crews with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Marion County Garage are in the processof clearing the roads however roadways are still hazardous.

 

 

 

 

LEVEL ONE SNOW ADVISORY

 

On February 5th, 2010 at 8:00pm the Marion County Sheriff's Office issued a level one snow advisory for Marion County. Primary and secondary roadways are snow covered and hazardous due to the large volume of snow presently falling. Crews with the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Marion County Garage are in the process of clearing the roads however roadways are still hazardous.

 

 

 

 

 

 

The National Weather Service has placed Marion under a WINTER STORM WARNING which will remain in effect until Saturday February 6 at 12pm. Motorists should use extreme caution while driving and limit travel.

 

 

SNOW ADVISORY/EMERGENCY LEVELS

 

LEVEL 1 – Roadways are extremely hazardous with accumulated, and/or blowing. And/or drifting snow. Roads may be icy. Motorists should use extreme caution while driving and limit travel.

 

 

LEVEL 2 – Roadway conditions have become dangerous to routine traffic with accumulate, and/or blowing and/or drifting snow. Icing may be taking place by means of freezing rain, sleet, or packed snow. Only travel that is essential, or of an emergency nature, should be attempted. Employees should contact employers to see if they should report to work.

LEVEL 3 - All roadways are closed to all non-emergency traffic. Driving is prohibited unless it is due to an emergency, essential business or work travel only. Those traveling on closed roadways for other than emergency or essential travel may be subject to arrest
