On March 12, 2014, over 25 law enforcement officers from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office and the Marion Police Department set out to serve arrest warrants in connection to the “Operation Take A Number” investigation that has been over four months in the making. Search warrants were served on four locations in connection with this investigation on March 7, 2014. “This, and other investigations, proves that if you sell drugs in Marion County you will get caught and you will be arrested” said Sheriff Tim Bailey.

Thirty nine (39) warrants were issued to people involved with drug trafficking out of this investigation. Twenty two (22) have been arrested so far today and seventeen (17) have not yet been located but officers are actively looking for them.

A search warrant was served this morning at 678 Sugar Street in Marion in addition to the arrest warrants being served.

During these arrests, officers seized $1,143; a vehicle; 7.3 grams of heroin, 2.0 grams of crack cocaine and 9 grams of marijuana.

Marion Police Chief Bill Collins said “I am proud of the MARMET Drug Task Force for their dedication to finding and arresting drug traffickers in our community. They have been very successful but there is more work to do. I am confident that their success will continue.”

Sheriff Bailey, Prosecutor Yager and Chief Collins would like to thank the community for their continued support and information that is so vital to these kinds of investigations.
