BURGLARY SUSPECT ARRESTED PDF Print E-mail
Written by Major Jeff Cline
Friday, 28 December 2012

On 12/28/2012 at approximately 3:40AM, a resident from the 1300 block of Lusch Road reported hearing noises that suggested someone might have broken into his house. A deputy arrived to the scene 4 minutes later and was told that the noises had come from the basement area of the house but that the homeowner had checked the basement and no one was located down there. The deputy checked the scene and noticed that a basement window had been broken out and that shoe prints in the snow were leading to the house but no prints were found leaving the house.  The deputy entered the basement, started to search it and located a lone white male suspect hiding near the broken window.

The suspect was taken into custody and found to be possessing a 9mm pistol which had been secured in a holster on his hip.  Additionally, the suspect was possessing two knives. The suspect was identified as 23 year old Kaleb Micah Kantzer of 2805 Township Road 155, Cardington Ohio.  After being taken into custody, Kantzer refused to speak to deputies or be interviewed about this incident.  A check was completed and Kantzer does not possess an Ohio conceal carry license.

Kantzer was transported to the Marion Multi County Correctional Center where he is being held on aggravated burglary charges.  This case is being reviewed by the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office for formal charges.

MARION COUNTY UNDER A LEVEL 2 SNOW ADVISORY PDF Print E-mail
Written by Major Jeff Cline
Wednesday, 26 December 2012

At 4:30pm on December 26, 2012, Sheriff Tim Bailey issued a level two snow advisory for Marion County. Primary and secondary roadways are extremely hazardous due to still falling snow. With the wind picking up in outlying areas and temperatures still below freezing many roads are down to one lane and are drifting quickly. Motorists should be mindful of temporary white out conditions and drifted roads, especially after dark. Be alert for cars going into ditches and medians. Sheriff Bailey cautions that if you must drive, use extreme caution and allow yourself extra time. Only travel that is essential, or of an emergency nature, should be attempted.
