MCSO 2014 DEPUTY OF THE YEAR NAMED

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey recently announced the 2014 selection for Deputy of the Year. Deputy Colin Lowe, who has been with the sheriff's office since July of 2012, was named Deputy of the Year.

Deputy Lowe began his career with The Marion County Sheriff’s Office in July of 2012 as an Auxiliary Deputy Sheriff. Deputy Lowe was an active member of the Auxiliary which led to him becoming a fulltime deputy sheriff with the sheriff’s office in December of 2012. Deputy Lowe is an exceptional employee for the sheriff’s office and is proud to work in a county where he was raised. Deputy Lowe is currently assigned to the road patrol division of the sheriff’s office but is also an active member of the sheriff’s office tactical unit. Deputy Lowe has also assisted in the MARMET Drug Task Force and the Sheriff’s Office Investigative Division.   Prior to coming to the sheriff’s office Deputy Lowe was an analyst for MARMET and also worked as a probation officer for the Marion County Adult Probation Department. Deputy Lowe is a graduate of River Valley and he earned his Bachelor’s Degree of Criminal Justice at Tiffin University where he majored in Law Enforcement and Homeland Security/Terrorism.

MCSO 2014 CIVILIAN OF THE YEAR NAMED

Marion County Sheriff Tim Bailey recently announced the 2014 selections for Civilian Employee of the Year. Dispatcher Shawn Thorpe was selected as civilian employee of the year for 2014.

Dispatcher Thorpe came to the sheriff’s office in January of 2013 from The Marion Township Fire Department. Dispatcher Thorpe served with the Marion Township Fire Department for 23 years where he was a dispatcher, Emergency Medical Technician, and a Firefighter. Dispatcher Thorpe also served for 24 years as a Volunteer Firefighter and EMT with The Salt Rock Fire Department volunteering his time and passion to Marion County. Dispatcher Thorpe’s dedication, work ethic, and experience make him an excellent selection for the 2014 Sheriff’s Office Civilian of the Year. Dispatcher Thorpe is a graduate of Harding High School and a Veteran of the United States Navy where he served in The Vietnam War in 1971 and 1972.
