The Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) events are a great opportunity for residents to clean out garages, sheds and basements and dispose of the electonic and hazardous waste safely and properly. Four Household Hazardous Waste events are planned for 2013:

April 27, 2013: Morrow County Fairgrounds, 9:00am to 1:00 pm, Mt. Gilead, OH

June 8, 2013: Whirlpool Corporation, 1300 Marion-Agosta Rd, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Marion, OH

September 14, 2013: Knox County Fairgrounds, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Mt. Vernon, OH

October 5, 2013: Delaware County Fairgrounds, 9:00 am to 1:00 pm, Delaware, OH

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS

Paint will not be accepted at the Household Hazardous Waste events. to dispose of paint properly please see instructions below:

  • in a well-ventilated area, air dry paint away from children and pets.
  • add absorbent materials, such as shredded newspaper or kitty litter and allow to dry completely. Some home improvement stores sell an inexpensive paint hardener (check your local stores)
  • throw the dried paint away in your regular trash.
  • if the paint has solidfied in the can, take off the lid and dispose of it in your regular trash.
  • you can also donate "good" leftover paint to local community groups, theater groups, schools, churches and others who need or want it. You may even be able to take a tax deduction. Your local Habit for Humanity Re-Store will also accept good, used paint.


There is a mandatory fee for any scrap tires bought to the events:
 
                     $ 1.00 per passenger tire (17”or less w/wo rims)

                     $ 4.00 per truck tire
 
                     $25.00 for farm or tractor tires


DKMM is offering a TV collection in conjunction with the HHW event, however there is a mandatory fee for any sized television of $10.00 per TV  bought to the events.



THESE EVENTS ARE LIMITED TO RESIDENTS ONLY.

No businesses, schools, industrial, or institutional hazardous waste will be accepted.
